Background:


A Graduate Program Associate or Full Professor Telecommunications Management Department is being sought at this time. The Telecommunications Management Program is an advanced program which seeks to balance the technology development and training of professionals in the telecommunications field. The program includes a PhD track which will be expanded with the arrival of the new faculty member. The new Professor will also be given Telecommunications Management Program administrative responsibilities and will report to the current director of Telecommunications Management. The current director is a full time telecommunications professional working in the areas of research & product development for a major telecommunications (equipment and software) company based in NJ.

The Telecom Management program is an interdisciplinary combination of twelve courses, usually taken over a two year period, on weeknights. A number of customized versions are also offered at local and regional companies. It is designed to provide participants with the requisite management, business, technical, and strategic skills needed to help their organization carry out their network communications strategy and plans.

Office is based in Hoboken NJ but will teach at various client company locations throughout Northern/ Central NJ

Responsibilities:

Teach and help design, manage, market and grow the Telecommunications Program. Key actionables / deliverables include: teaching technical and managerial courses in the telecommunications management field; promoting and encouraging research and publications; devising marketing materials and web site related information to attractively describe the features and benefits of the program to major companies and governmental agencies who will want to enroll their people in the program; working with internal or external service providers to devise web based "distance learning" courses where appropriate and desirable; managing the program to profitability and continually improving it

The hired candidate will project an energetic and enthusiastic style. He or she will have proven track record of accomplishment establishing and developing successful systems engineering and management programs either in an academic or industry setting. A combination of academic and industry experience is highly desirable.

The hired candidate's industry background, will reflect experience (10 + years) in a wide variety of Telecommunications responsibilities in a major company, (telecom or otherwise) along with a track record of increasingly significant responsibilities and accomplishments. The hired candidate will also have a proven record of managing processes, operations or products that demonstrate a strong knowledge of, and affinity for, systems integration problem solving and implementation. Progressively more complex and significant project management will be a hallmark of the hired candidate's industry experience.

The hired candidate's academic background, will reflect (10+ years) teaching experience at the Graduate level in a well-respected university with a focus on Telecommunications Management or in a closely allied discipline--such as Telecommunications oriented Systems Engineering or Project Management-- is a requirement. In addition, the hired candidate will possess a proven teaching record as well as an excellent faculty-mentoring ability, along with a record of professional service coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Strong student evaluations are important along with an excellent publication record of original research. The new senior faculty member will have earned a doctorate in systems engineering or a closely allied discipline. It is expected that he or she will be poised and mature, possessing a friendly accessible demeanor that will encourage open and honest communication as well as promote / build teamwork.
