Attracting the right senior level leadership is the most important and challenging task for your organization…
Are you taking the right approach?
• Are you feeling frustrated by the results of your current hiring efforts?
• Are some of the best people being attracted by your toughest competitors?
• Have you tried to develop a relationship with a reputable search firm?
What works and what doesn’t work is always the acid test for any task.
Why waste time pursuing aims with the wrong tools or wrong methodologies?
I was interviewed this week by Charlie Rafkin from the Dartmouth Daily Newspaper…..
Charlie’s article provides various perspectives about the upcoming search for the next Dean of Dartmouth College; I was pleased to respond to his questions.

I am sharing the links to two worthwhile articles—-the first is from Julie Bennink from Accenture where she discusses the importance and benefits of vendor outsource relationship management.
The second article relates to tweaks being made to the highly successful and important online higher ed learning program at Southern NH University
I hope you will find both pieces interesting and beneficial.
Our firm conducts senior level search assignments for universities and companies that are focused on research and innovation. As the economy continues to accelerate we expect our phones to be ringing more frequently from clients who need us to help them attract the right leaders for their organization.
For boards of directors and university trustees this is an important inflection point relative to attracting the best leaders for key roles; the competition for talent will increase significantly as the year progresses.
This survey, compiled by LEARNING HOUSE provides a good overview of the results that are being delivered from online learning initiatives as viewed by VPAA/Chief Academic Officers of independent colleges. Key findings: Nearly all respondents report that revenue is increasing from online offerings//nearly 20% are generating more than $1MM in annual revenue; breadth of courses is broadening/management-business and health related rank at the top; Increasing international enrollments and adding hybrid graduate programs are the top plans for online learning for the next one or two years.

During this time of the year universities get particularly busy in their efforts to attract and hire qualified nursing and health professions faculty and administrators. We would be glad to hear from you if you are contemplating using a search firm to assist in the hire of critically needed faculty and administrators.
This year we expanded our service capacity with the addition of a former university nursing department chair to our search support team.
Rather than discuss the features and benefits of our service we thought that presenting a case study would be the best way to convey our service capabilities to you and your colleagues.
KULPER & COMPANY is continuing our study and analysis of online higher education in an effort to better serve our university clients and prospects. If you and your colleagues have decided to grow and develop your online program and you are considering attracting a new leader for it we would like to hear from you please contact us.

KULPER & COMPANY….where academia meets corporate innovation
Our firm focuses on completing senior level search assignments for universities and companies. We enthusiastically work at the intersection of universities that create new knowledge through their research efforts and with companies that operate at the forefront of innovation. We are retained search firm; we work exclusively on search assignments for our clients—the hiring organization—to help qualify and attract proven talent who will drive the growth and development of your company or university. We strive to continually improve every element of our service capability and take pride in listening and the responding in creative and highly individualized ways to best serve our clients.
Our firm is having a very nice year, so far, and the outlook for the second half is positive. We measure success based upon the number of inquiries we receive for our executive search consulting services and top-line revenue received. Based upon both indicators, we are up over 35% in comparison with the first six months of 2012. We anticipate hearing from more of our university and corporate clients who need the right leaders to help further energize/transform their organizations: (for universities; Deans, VP for Research as well as CFO, VP Enrollment etc. and for corporations: C level leadership, VP Sales, VP/Director Research/Product Development etc.). Our market niche…where academic research meets corporate innovation is fascinating and constantly active.
We are contacted fairly regularly by prospective clients interested in learning if our firm can be helpful to them in support of their strategic hiring needs. Sometimes we are called well in advance of the hiring need and other times after a search has started and results are proving to be less than optimal.
In both situations we begin by listening because we need to understand the background about the search and to help determine for the client if our firm will be the right one for their need.
Some things we will need to know:
